On the 7th of June, Students were welcomed back to changi sailing club early in the morning. Day 2 covered the Core values, Effort is more than 50% of success, Together Everyone Achieves More, and Resilience and patience is essential. We had the opportunity to host Mr. Barry Hamberg, Managing director of Lukoil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd who shared with our SSP participants his personal experiences that taught him how effort was important in his journey, bringing him step by step to where he is now. Following his speech, participants were immersed in both land and water activities where they were able to practice the values of the day.

Teams took part in games such as raft escape and knots relay where participants were handicapped in areas such as communication and resources. This allowed our participants to realize the importance of the core values of the day. Participants were also given the chance to explore the sailboat, as they were put through a land simulator. Once the theory aspect was done on land, they were sent off to experience the byte on water. Participants were put through capsize drills following which they splashed around in the water.

We then had the pleasure of hosting Ms Yvonne from Nanyang School of Business, Career Services. She shared her story of how during her youth she had encountered experiences that taught her and her peers to be more grateful of what they have. She also shared how this experience proved that the core values of the day, Effort is more than 50% of success, Together Everyone Achieves More, and Resilience and patience is essential, can be roped into small actions that one does in their daily lives.
